Original description Yu Jingxian and Zhang Wangping, 1980 [translation Suning Hou 2025]:

Diphyes xinjiangense sp. nov.
Holotype: Slide number W3-3P.
Description: The cyst measures 94.3-96.6 µm in length, with the holotype measuring 94.3 µm, and 85.1-95 µm in width, with the holotype width being 85.1 µm. The antapical horn measures 34.5 µm in length and 17-18.4 µm in width. The central body of the cyst is flattened oval in shape, with a granulated ornamentation on its surface. The outer membrane produces numerous hollow processes, fewer than 50 in number, varying in width but generally 5-6 µm wide. At the cingulum, the processes are broader and shorter, with their tips flaring open. The apical horn is broad and bifurcated. The antapical horn is conical, with its surface bearing numerous folds. The archeopyle is intercalary and pentagonal in shape.
Comparison: The new species is distinguished from D. cretaceum sp. nov. by its fewer and broader small processes and the flattened oval shape of the cyst body.
Stratigraphy: Lower part of the Uytak-Kukbay Formation乌依塔克–库克拜下部
