Now Thalassiphora. Originally (and now) Thalassiphora, subsequently Disphaeria.
Lentin and Williams, 1977, retained the species in Thalassiphora Eisenack and Gocht, 1960.

Holotypus: The in Slide H18 preserved specimen shown on plate 2, fig. 7. Paratype: HS, H12, H18丨II.
Locus typicus: Depold'sche Ziegelei (south from Helmstedt).
Stratum typicum: Lower Oligocene
Diagnosis: A relatively small species with the characteristics of the genus Thalassiphora. Below the dorsally located pylomas runs across
the smooth, delicate wing membrane has a clearly pronounced furrow.
Description: The thin-walled ellipsoic central body has a trapezoid pylom located below one pole. On the dorsal side of the central capsule is the key-shaped, delicate, structureless capsule attached to the outer membrane, which clearly inwards at its outer edges and therefore has a somewhat narrowed ventral opening. Over the dorsal side of the outer membrane - below the pylomas —a clear furrow in all specimens (see Plate 2, Figs. 7, 9). This well-defined groove shows the same orientation as that found in dinoflagellates. Therefore it must necessarily be regarded as a true transverse furrow.

Comparison: So far, no species of the genus Thalassiphora is known to be so small and with a transverse groove on the outer membrane.
