From Fensome et al., 2019:
Disphaeria tesselata Srivastava, 1984, p.37, pl.15, figs.1–8. Holotype: Srivastava, 1984, pl.15, fig.1. Age: late Barremian.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Original description: [Srivastava, 1984]:
Disphaeria tesselata n. sp.
(pl. 15, fig. 1-8)
Description : Cyst double-walled with a spherical central body and a circular periphragm; periphragm faintly rugulate to reticulate ; central body slightly smaller than overall dimensions, thus forming a thinner flange or zona.
Size measurements : Overall diameter 43-83 um (holotype 45 um); central body 40-65 μm (holotype 42 x 40 μm) in seven specimens of this study.
Holotype: CRC 32810-35/A :39.0/106.0, pl. 15, fig. 1;outcrop, Sisteron, S.E. France; upper Barremian.
Isotype : CRC 32810-35/A :16.4/111.0, pl. 15, fig. 2; outcrop, Sisteron, S.E. France, upper Barremian.
Paratype : CRC 32810-38/A :39.4/107.0, pl. 15, fig. 3; outcrop, Sisteron, S.E. France, upper Barremian.
Remarks : Disphaeria tesselata is distinct from D. reticulata (MORGENROTH) NORVICK in having a larger central body in relation to the overall dimensions, and a faint incomplete reticulate ornamentation.
Name derivation: Latin - tesselatus = inlaid with small square stones, checkered.
