NOW Lingulodinium. Originally Impletosphaeridium, subsequently Lingulodinium?, thirdly (and now) Lingulodinium.
Possible tax. jr. synonyrn of Lingulodinium machaerophorum (Deflandre and Cookson, 1955) Wall, 1967, according to Stover and Evitt, 1978. Sarjeant, 1981, retained Impletosphaeridium (as Lingulodinium) pycnospinosum as a separate species.
