Elytrocysta druggii Stover and Evitt, 1978. Small solid processes, which may be rounded, capitate or furcate. Operculum usually attached. Size: 28-42 µm.

Diagnosis: Drugg, 1967, p 29-30 as a "Revised Diagnosis" for Membranosphaera maastrichtica
Test spherical to ovate. Wall thin, single layered, ornamented with small solid processes. The distal ends of these processes may be rounded, capitate, or furcate. The development and distribution of the processes are variable from specimen to specimen. Sometimes they are reduced to the point that they are more in the nature of grana rather than true processes. One specimen located which exhibits remnants of an outer filmy layer supported by the processes. The archeopyle is apical and opens by means of an angular operculum. The method of opening is characterized by the operculum usually remaining attached to the test along one edge. The operculum is polygonal in outline, probably six-sided in basic form, but the six sides are not always equally developed. Following the partial detachment of the operculum, the test tends to split downward for some distance below the angles of the operculum. Usually this results in four major notches, but sometimes there are two additional notches. No tabulation is developed but very rarely the process may exhibit a slight alignment suggestive of a girdle. The size ranges from 28 to 42 Ám Many of the forms included here could be referred to M. maastrichtica var. pilata Samoilovitch ex Norris and Sarjeant but because of the intergradational nature of these forms, they have not been separated as a distinct category. Abundant.
