Fibrocysta klumppiae (Corradini, 1973) Stover and Evitt, 1978

Originally Cordosphaeridium, subsequently (and now) Fibrocysta.

Original diagnosis: Corradini, 1973, p. 152: Cordosphaeridium klumppiae
Central body ovoidal in outline with wall exceeding one 1Á in thickness, and composed of smooth endophragm and punctate periphragm. Processes numerous, slender and aculeate distally. Sulcal processes small. Precingular archeopyle wide and horse shoe shaped.
Dimensions: Holotype: diameter of the central body 63x70 Ám, length of the processes 22-34 Ám; size of the archeopyle 30x38 Ám. Range: diameter of the central body 48-(54)65x55-(60)-72) Ám, length of the processes 14(24)34 Ám.

Chorate cyst having a thick two-layered wall which is up to 1 Ám in thickness.
From the periphragm arise numerous, well developed, thin processes, which are also punctate, terminating distally in rosette of more or less regular spines. lhey vary in length on the same specimen, being usually a little more developed in apical and antapical regions. The procesess have a broad base, taper gradually and imperceptibly to the distal aculeate margin and show usually an alignment
running parallel to the cingulum structure. Numerous and narrow sulcal processes are often arranged in groups of 2 or 3 adjacent processes. Apical processes often united proximally. Archeopyle usuallv present, precingular in position.

Affinities:
Corradini, 1973, p. 152: Cordosphaeridium klumppiae
C. klumppi, typically encountered from the Castel di Casio assemblages, is most closely comparable to Hystrichosphaeridium microtriaina Klumpp from the Upper Eocene of Germany. This species is characterized by the thickness of the test and by the irregular sculpture besides a low number of sulcal processes which are also larger in size.
