Florentinia causea Yu Jingxian and Zhang Wangping, 1980

Holotype: Yu Jingxian and Zhang Wangping, 1980, pl.4, fig.9
Age: Late Cretaceous

Original Description Yu Jingxian and Zhang Wangping, 1980 [translation Suning Hou 2025]:

Florentinia causea sp. nov.
Holotype: Slide number W3-7N, Plate IV, Figure 9.
Description: The cyst measures 36.8-39.2 µm in length, with the holotype being 36.8 µm, and 20.7-26.0 µm in width, with the holotype width being 20.7 µm. The antapical horn measures 23.0 µm in length.
The central body is long flask-shaped with a wall thickness of approximately 1.0 µm. The surface is smooth. It features a prominent, large antapical horn that is clavate in shape. The length of antapical horn is approximately two-thirds the length of the cyst's central body, with a width of 11.5 µm, a slightly narrower base, and a swollen, hollow, flared tip. Small processes number fewer than 15, are tubular and hollow, with either smooth or serrated flared tips. Excluding the smaller processes at positions 3' and on the cingulum, other processes measure ~16.1 µm in length and 9.2 µm in width, roughly half the length of the central body. The tabulation is 2'-4', 2''-4'', 2'''-5''', 1’’’’. The archeopyle is apical. The cyst shape is very weird.
Comparison: The new species is highly distinct due to its unusual cyst shape, with the antapical horn being approximately two-thirds the length of the central body,.
Stratigraphy: Upper part of the Uytak-Kukbay Formation. 乌依塔克–库克拜上部
