Fromea granulata

From Fensome et al., 2019:
Fromea granulata Lentin and Williams, 1977b, p.61. Holotype: Jain and Millepied, 1975, pl.2, fig.30. Originally Fromea elongata Jain and Millepied (name illegitimate; Appendix A), subsequently (and now) Fromea granulata, thirdly Fromea senegalensis (name illegitimate; Appendix A). Substitute name for Fromea elongata Jain and Millepied, 1975, p.141, pl.2, figs.29–30 (an illegitimate name; Appendix A). The substitute name Fromea senegalensis (Appendix A) postdates Fromea granulata by one month (Lentin and Williams, 1985, p.137). Age: Aptian–Albian.

Original description: [Jain and Millepied, 1975]:

Fromea elongata sp. nov. (PI. 2, Figs. 29-30)

Holotype - PI. 2, Fig. 30; Slide No. 7299-16.
Type locality - Bore hole no. BR-1, depth 3523 m; Sencgal Basin, W. Africa.
Horizon - Albo-Aptian.

Diagnosis - Shell ellipsoidal, without cingulum, sulcus or tabulation. Wall single layered, surface coarsely granulate to some times baculate. Archacopyle apical, ± circular.

Measurements
Shell size: holotype: 50 x 42 μm, range: 50-60 x 40-42 μm
Wall thickness: holotype: 0.5 μm, range: 0.5 μm

Comparison - Fromea elongata sp. nov. compares best with F. amphora Cookson & Eisenack (1958) in having ellipsoidal shell but differs in the absence of girdle. F. acambra Sah et al. (1970) diffe:s in having clongated neck with opening and pitcher shaped shell. The elongated neck with opening in F. acambra crcates doubt to retain the species under the genus Fromea. F. warlinghamensis Gitmez & Sarjeant (1972) differs in its large size and spherical shape.
