Galea levis Maier, 1959, p. 308

Originally Galea (generic name illegitimate), subsequently Baltisphaeridium (acritarch), thirdly Cleistosphaeridium.
Taxonomic senior synonym: Galea (as Chiropteridium) galea, according to Sarjeant (1983, p.108–109).
Following I.C.N. Article 55.1, the species name Galea levis is validly published even though the generic name Galea is illegitimate.

A species of the genus Galea with the following characteristics: capsule copletely smooth with just two longitudinal seams. Equatorial opening smooth.
Remark: Longitudinal seams end at the pole in long, furcate prosesses. Seams may be frayed or posses of simple processes.
Dimensions: lemgth 76 Ám, breadth 83 Ám.
