Geiselodinium hallense

Geiselodinium hallense Krutzsch, 1962

Holotype: Krutzsch, 1962, pl.11, figs.14-16
Locus typicus: Neumarkt-west quarry, Geiseltal, Germany
Stratum typicum: Lutetian, Middle Eocene

Original diagnosis: Krutzsch, 1962, p. 44
A Geiselodinium species with more or less completely reduced apical horn; antapical horns but weakly developed, hardly visible in outline. Traces of the furrows less clear than in G. geiseltalensis. Outline: shell as well as central body mostly elongate oval; shell not as closely appressed as in the other species. Sculpture less well pronounced, only slightly clearer near the horns. Size: central body cross-section 50-60 Ám, total diameter 55-70 Ám.

Affinities: Krutzsch, 1962, p. 44: G. hallense differs with respect to G. eocenicum in outline, the absence of the apical horn, the relative obscurity of the transverse furrow and the greater distance of the shell to the central body. The type specimen is slightly torn apically. Numerous wrinkles.
