Geiselodinium minutum
Geiselodinium minutum (Jiabo, 1978, p.83) Chen et al., 1988, p.28
Now Saeptodinium. Originally Deflandrea, subsequently Sanshuia, thirdly Geiselodinium, fourthly (and now) Saeptodinium.
Holotype: Jiabo, 1978, pl.3, fig.11
Age: Early Tertiary
Sanshuia minuta (Jiabo) comb. nov.
Description: Outline subcircular or tripodal. Periphragm fairly thin. Endocyst subcircular or indistinct when present. Surface smooth, granulate or sparsely spinose. Upper test in shape of reversed funnel. Apical horn extends out conspicuously and has conical shape; height about 5 - 10 µm. Circular pore at end. Lower test subtrapezoidal, with two antapical horns of approximately equal size, about 2 - 3.5 µm long. No tabulation or archaeopyle observed. Cingulum annular, about 2.5 µm wide. Several "nuclei" near ventral section.
Size: Cysts 41.6 - 43.7 µm long and 34.5 - 38.5 µm wide.
Discussion: Since this species has proximate cysts and no observable archaeopyle, it does not properly belong to Deflandrea, so a new combination is made here.
