Trichodinium capillatum
Trichodinium capillatum (Courtinat in Courtinat and Gaillard, 1980) Courtinat, 1989
NOW Filisphaeridium? courtinatii (Acritarch). Originally Comasphaeridium capillatum (Acritarc), subsequently Trichodinium capillatum, thirdly (and now) Filisphaeridium? courtinatii (Acritarc).
Holotype: Courtinat and Gaillard, 1980, pl.2, fig. 15
Age: Late Oxfordian
Translation Courtinat, 1989: LPP
Remark: Courtinat, 1989, p.208
T. capillatum very clearly presents a precingular archaeopyle and the trace of a paracingulum. The archaeopyle is supposed to be formed by the loss of paraplate 3"". The presence of the precingular archaeopyle, the paracingulum and the very dense cover of spines allow the allocation to the genus Trichodinium.
