Palaeocystodinium elegans
Palaeocystodinium elegans He Chengquan, 1991
Holotype: He Chengquan, 1991, pl.34, fig.13
Age: Late Eocene
Description from He Chengquan, 1991, translated by Suning Hou, 07-01-2019
Description: the cyst is spindle shape, the body extands obviously outward in the central; medium long horns extend at the poles ; straight or curved, blunt end, which is located in the archeopyle proximal pole is called the apical horn, the other for the antapical horn, the lengths are equal, length 30-45μm. The outer wall is transparent, with obvious sparse particles on the surface. The inner body outline is long oval, thin wall, smooth surface; it is close to the outer wall at the side. Archeopyle obvious, intercalary, outline narrow trapezoid, located under the apex. The operculum is off. Cyst is yellowish green.
Dimensions: Cyst length 130-155μm, width 30-32. 5μm, the inner body length 62.5-75μm, width 30-32. 5μm (measured 2 );, the holotype length 130 μm , Width 32. 5μm, inner body length 75 μm, width 32 .5 μm, apical and antapical horns length 30μm.
Comparison: This species differes from Palaeorystodinium golzowense in the intense outward convex and outer wall surface with sparse particles; It differs from P. granulatum in smaller individuals, convex at the central body and short horns ; It is different from the P. hyperxanthum in the presence of archeopyle, the latter lacks archeopyle, the outer wall Surface without obvious particles
Location and stratigraphy: Wuqia County Basebulak; Basebulak fm member two and three.
