Gonyaulacysta clathrata
Gonyaulacysta clathrata (Cookson and Eisenack, 1960) Dodekova, 1971
Now Leptodinium. Originally Gonyaulax, subsequently Gonyaulacysta, thirdly (and now) Leptodinium.
This combination was not validly published in Sarjeant, 1966, since that author did not fully reference the basionym.
Holotype: Cookson and Eisenack, 1960, pl.37, fig.5; text-fig.2; Jan du Chêne et al., 1986, pl.71, figs.10-12
Locus typicus: Broome No. 3, Australia
Stratum typicum: probably Tithonian
Original description: Cookson and Eisenack, 1960, p.246: Gonyaulax clathrata
Shell spherical to somewhat polygonal, approximately isodiametric. The transverse furrow is helicoid and divides the shell nearly equally. The plates and furrows are bordered by rather high ledges with radially arranged rectangular perforations which give them a palisade-like appearance. A large pylome is developed on the dorsal side (plate 3"). The formula is 4", 1a, 6", 6""", 1p, 1"""". Plates 1a and 1 of the longitudinal furrow are long and narrow, plates 6a and 1""" are small, especially the latter (text-fig. 2a).
Dimensions: holotype 100x100 µm. Range in diameter 70-100 µm.
