Evansia granochagrinata

From Fensome et al., 2019:
Evansia granochagrinata Below, 1990, p.74,76, pl.18, figs.5–12,14–15. Holotype: Below, 1990, pl.18, figs.7–10,14. Contrary to the opinion of Lentin and Williams (1993, p.215), this name is validly published. Below (1987a, p.6) stated that, unless otherwise indicated, all the material is in his personal collection. Since Below (1987a, 1987b, 1990) are parts I to III of a single study, we agree with J. Jansonius (personal communication) that Below's (1987a) repository statement refers to all three publications, fulfilling the requirement of ICN Article 40.7. Age: late Pliensbachian–Aalenian.

Original description Below, 1990:

Derivatio nominis: named after the surface omaments of granules and shagreen. Holotype: specimen S2-1156(K0)4/5 (Plate 18, Figs. 7-10, 14).
Locus typicus: Ziegeleitongrube Mistelgau.
Stratum typicum: Toarcium, Lesquei zone.

Description:
Vesicle/plate arrangement of the dinoflagellate Amphicsum cop, pop, cap, 3', 3a, 6'', 7c, 6''', 2'''', as, FM, ls, rs, ps; 1' insert; tegulation 4*, 3**, 4***, 2****, 7c, 4+, 4++, 3+++; growth of thecal plates following a gonyaulocoid pattern;
Zygote cyst habitus proximate, acavate, spheroidal, epicyst with low apical bulge equal to or slightly shorter than the hypocyst, circular in equatorial section; wall of thin pedium and granular structured luxuria, without calyptra, surface chagrinate, granules uniform or along finis, preferably coarser at cingulum roundels, correspondingly nonareate, partially or very rarely completely reflecting the thecal lamination; areation formula NR PR/XPR, NR'/3', laarch, 2aarch, 3aarch, NR"/6", Xe, NR"'/6'", NR'''1/21111, Xs; PR undifferentiated or cop tiny, forming the tip of the apical protuberance and surrounded by pop, area cap small; 3 apicals: IV-nE 1'(Y), VI-nE2'(L), VI-nE3'(R), 2' and 31 as well as apical horn shifted far ventrally, thus the 3 anterior intercalaries achieve an almost apical position; 3 anterior intercalary: caroidal LA (LDL), fastigiate 2a (D), caroidal 3a (DR); 6 Precingularc: anterior geniculate V-nE l 1'(VVL), anterior geniculate V-nE2" (LVL), anterior geniculate V-nE3" (DL), anterior geniculate V-nE4" (DR), anterior geniculate V-nE 5" (RVR), anterior geniculate V-nE 6"(VVR); cingulum flat left-handed spiral, dented, nonpartite, 6 postcingulars: posterior linear V-nE 1''1(VVL), posterior linear IV-nE 2"'(YL), posterior geniculate V-nE 3'" (LDL), posterior linear IV-nE4"'(D), posterior linear IV-nE 5'" (RDR), posterior linear V-nE 61" (YR); 2 Antapical: V l"" sloping towards VL, VI2'" pole-like, slightly inclined towards R; sulcus deeply depressed, particularly hypocystally, nonareate; archaeopyle anteriorly intercalary, 1a + 2a + 3a; operculum solvate, opercular plates secate, general opercular formula 1a + 2a, + 3a5.

Malle des Holotypus: Lange 52 µm, Breite 42 µm, Dicke 37 µm.
