Indodinium khariense

Indodinium khariensis Kumar, 1986, p.389,391, pl.4, figs.2-3; Emendation: Riding and Helby, 2001f, p.157,159.

This species was a nomen nudum in Kumar, 1984, who did not provide a description or illustration.
Taxonomic junior synonym: Diplotesta nodosa (name not validly published), according to Riding and Helby (2001f, p. 157).

Holotype: Kumar, 1986b, pl.4, fig.3; Fensome et al., 1995, fig.2 - p.1587.
Locus typicus: Kachchh, India
Stratum typicum: Kimmeridgian-Tithonian

Original diagnosis: Kumar, 1986, p.389
Cyst circumcavate, elongate beaker-shaped in dorsoventral view. Paratabulation is marked by an apical archaeopyle type A and six preeingular paraplates. Wall two layered, periphragm psilate and thin, sometimes forming one or two antapieal protrusions. Endophragm is thiek and variously ornamented. The two walls are in contact with eaeh other only at the antapical end.

Original description: Kumar, 1986, p.389, 341
These are circumcavate, elongate, beaker-shaped, dorsoventrally compressed cysts. Paratabulation is marked by six precingular paraplates, which are indicated by aeeessory archaeopyle parasutures marked on the endophragm. A faintly marked paracingulum divides the cyst into a slightly larger hypocyst and smaller epieyst. A short parasuleus may be present in the hypocystal region. Archaeopyle is apical type A and the operculum is free. Both the paracingulum and parasulcus are marked by either partial or complete absence of ornamentation on the endophragm. The periphragm is thin and psilate and may form either one or two antapical protrusions. The endophragm is thicker with striate, granulate or verrucate ornamentation. The endocoel is elongated and quadrangular or rarely somewhat ovoidal in shape. The periphragm and endophragm are in contact only near the antapical end.
Dimension: Based on five specimens. Cyst length = 55--71.5 Ám. Cyst width = 27--39 Ám.

Supplemental description: Jiang et al., 1992, p. 83-84
Central body elongate, circumcavate with a broadly rounded base. The endophragm is darker, and seems thicker, than the pale periphragm. The endophragm surface is mostly smooth but small granules are irregularly distributed. The periphragm is quite smooth. Tabulation is only indicated by the apical archaeopyle and its accessory sutures: these indicate six precingular paraplates. A cingulum is vaguely and irregularly indicated by thickened lines or folds of the endophragm about midway along the test.
