Tax. sr. synonym of Hystrichosphaera tertiaria Eisenack and Gocht, 1960, according to Gocht, 1969, and Sarjeant, 1970.
Possible tax. sr. synonym of Achomosphaera alcicornu (Eisenack, 1954) Davey and Williams, 1966, according to May, 1980. Lentin and Williams, 1981, retained Achomosphaera alcicornu as a separate species.
Tax. sr. synonym of Hystrichosphaera incerta (Klumpp, 1953) Morgenroth, 1966, according to Gocht, 1969. Sarjeant, 1981, retained Hystrichosphaera incerta (as Spiniferites incertus) as a separate species.
