Originally Galea (an illegitimate generic name), subsequently Hystrichosphaeridium, thirdly Hystrichokolpoma?.
Tax. jr. synonym of Hystrichokolpoma rigaudiae Deflandre and Cookson, 1955, according to Sarjeant, 1983.
At the time of the transfer, Davey and Williams, 1969, questionably included this species in Hystrichokolpoma.
This species was not validly published in Davey and Williams, 1966, since these authors did not fully reference the basionym.
