Now Pterodinium. Originally Cymatiosphaera, subsequently Hystrichosphaera, thirdly Spiniferites, fourthly Spiniferites?, fifthly (and now) Pterodinium.
Tax. sr. synonym of Spiniferites? pterotus (Cookson and Eisenack, 1958) Sarjeant, 1970, according to Below, 1981, and hence a tax. sr. synonym of Hystrichosphaera crassimurata Davey and Williams, 1966, by implication, according to Kjellstrom, 1973, who considered Hystrichosphaera crassimurata to be a tax. jr. synonym of Spiniferites? pterotus — however, Pavlishina (1990, p.95) retained Cymatiosphaera (now Pterodinium?) pterota.
