Hystrichosphaeridium alcicornu Eisenack, 1954

Now Achomosphaera. Originally Hystrichosphaeridium, subsequently (and now) Achomosphaera.
Possible tax. jr. synonym of Spiniferites pseudofurcatus (Klumpp, 1953) Sarjeant, 1970, according to May, 1980. Lentin and Williams, 1981, retained Hystrichosphaeridium (as Achomosphaera) alcicornu as a separate species.
Tax. sr. synonym of Galea Iychnea Maier, 1959, according to Sarjeant, 1983.
Tax. sr. synonym of Hystrichosphaeridium leptodermum Maier, 1959, according to Sarjeant, 1983.

Original description: Eisenack, 1954, p. 65
Diagnosis: Central body spherical to weakly oval, with numerous hollow processes, which are distally widened in a funnel-shaped fashion. These widenings divide into mostly 3, sometimes furhter subdivided tips, which are connected in an arch-like, so that there is a remote similarity with an elk"s antlers.
Dimensions: Holotype: sphere-diameter 65:67 Ám, total diameter c. 157 Ám; second specimen 58:65 Ám and 152 Ám respectively. 6 specimens with a sphere-diameter of 57-75 Ám and a total diameter of c. 120-166 Ám.
