Stover and Evitt, 1978, considered this to be a problematical species of Hystrichosphaeridium.

Ovate shell characterized by sparsity of processes; processes consist of stubby or elongate barbs and a few, thin, brief, seta-like projections.
Dimensions: Holotype: Length 52 Ám; width 40 Ám; maximum length of seta-like projections 8 Ám.
