Lanternosphaeridium lanosum Morgenroth, 1966a, has dense, fine, fibres which are interconnected very irregularly and form a dense, fibre network which loosely surrounds the whole capsule. Size: capsule length 61-70 µm, width 45-53 µm, overall length 87-123 µm, width 50-98 µm, archeopyle about 22 x 25 µm.

Original diagnosis: Morgenroth 1966a, p. 38?: Lanternosphaeridium lanosum
The ovoidal capsule clearly shows at both poles small processes (invaginations). The capsule wall possesses a smooth membrane. From this arise dense, fine fibers which are interconnected very irregularly and form a dense, fiber network which loosely surrounds the whole capsule. All specimens have a rounded to slightly trapezoidal pylome under the apical Pole.

Remarks: A fibrous stryctured outer layer of the capsule wall is not conclusively proven, but one can guess that the fibers are formed from this layer.

Measurements: Capsule breadth: 50 microns (45/53 microns), capsule length: 65 microns (61/70 microns), specimen length: 108 microns (87/123 microns), specimen breadth: 85 microns (50/98 microns), pylome diameter approximately: 22 x 25 microns (50 measurements). Number of specimens examined: 140.
