Hystrichosphaeridium multicornutum
Hystrichosphaeridium multicornutum Kimyai, 1966
Stover and Evitt, 1978, considered this species to be a problematical species of Hystrichosphaeridium.
Holotype: Kimyai, 1966, pl.2, fig.20
Locus typicus: New Jersey, Middlesex County, U.S.A.
Stratum typicum: Cenomanian
Original diagnosis: Kimyai, 1966, p.471
Body globular to cylindrical; poles not well rounded; body bearing 30-40 thin appendages; appendages 10-15 µm in length, almost perpendicular to the body surface, wide at the base, gradually tapering to the tips.
Dimensions: Equatorial diameter 60-85 µm. Holotype: Equatorial diameter 60.0 µm.
Affinities:
Kimyai, 1966, p.471: This form is similar to Hystrichosphaeridium xanthiopyxides, but has more appendages.
