In one specimen from Danian flint "C" otherwise in agreement with the typical forms, it is noticeable that, between each of the processes Iying in the same plane, a very delicate membrane is extending, which has not been embedded [in the flint] without damage. The curving of the processes obviously is caused in this case by the formation of the veil and not first developed postmortally, as otherwise might be supposed.
Now Cauca? velata. Originally Hystrichosphaeridium oligacanthum ssp. velatum, subsequently Baltisphaeridium oligacanthum ssp. velatum, thirdly Cleistosphaeridium? oligacanthum ssp. velatum, fourthly (and now) Cauca? velata.
