Hystrichosphaeridium pachydermum Cookson and Eisenack, 1960

Now Dapsilidinium. Originally Hystrichosphaeridium, subsequently Polysphaeridium, thirdly (and now) Dapsilidinium.
Stover and Evitt, 1978, considered this to be a problematical species of Hystrichosphaeridium.

Shell sphaerical, thick-walled (c.3-6 µm) with closely to sparsely arranged short, solid appandages of varying shape some being simple with ¦ capitate ends others flattened and equally or unequally bifurcate.
Dimensions: holotype - diameter 105 µm, diameter of shell 95 µm. Range - diameter 74-138 µm, diameter of shell 70-100 µm. Appendages 4-10 µm long.
