Originally Hystrichosphaeridium, subsequently Litosphaeridium?, thirdly Cordosphaeridium, fourthly Exochosphaeridium, fifthly Pervosphaeridium, sixthly Tityrosphaeridium?, seventhly Florentinia, eighthly Pervosphaeridium?, ninthly (and now) Raetiaedinium. Taxonomic senior synonym: Xanthidium (now Hystrichokolpoma) crassipes, by implication in Yun Hyesu (1981, p.27), who considered Hystrichosphaeridium (as Pervosphaeridium, now Raetiaedinium) truncigerum to be the senior name — however, Lentin and Williams (1985, p.282) retained Hystrichosphaeridium (as Pervosphaeridium, now Raetiaedinium) truncigerum.
Taxonomic junior synonym: Laticavodinium latispinosum (name not validly published), according to Slimani (2001a, p.194).

Strongly fibrous wall, with striations running from processes on cyst surface. According to Deflandre (1937), size with processes is 75-80 µm.
