Raetiaedinium truncigerum
Raetiaedinium truncigerum (Deflandre, 1937b, p.71–72, pl.13 [al. pl.10], figs.6–7) Kirsch, 1991, p.126.
Originally Hystrichosphaeridium, subsequently Litosphaeridium?, thirdly Cordosphaeridium, fourthly Exochosphaeridium, fifthly Pervosphaeridium, sixthly Tityrosphaeridium?, seventhly Florentinia, eighthly Pervosphaeridium?, ninthly (and now) Raetiaedinium. Taxonomic senior synonym: Xanthidium (now Hystrichokolpoma) crassipes, by implication in Yun Hyesu (1981, p.27), who considered Hystrichosphaeridium (as Pervosphaeridium, now Raetiaedinium) truncigerum to be the senior name — however, Lentin and Williams (1985, p.282) retained Hystrichosphaeridium (as Pervosphaeridium, now Raetiaedinium) truncigerum.
Taxonomic junior synonym: Laticavodinium latispinosum (name not validly published), according to Slimani (2001a, p.194).
Holotype: Deflandre, 1937b, pl.13 (al. pl.10), fig.6.
Age: Senonian.
G.L. Williams short notes on species, Mesozoic-Cenozoic dinocyst course, Urbino, Italy, May 17-22, 1999 - LPP
Raetiadinium truncigerum (Deflandre, 1937b) Kirsch, 1991. See genus.
Strongly fibrous wall, with striations running from processes on cyst surface. According to Deflandre (1937), size with processes is 75-80 µm.
