Palynodinium biculleus
Palynodinium biculleus Kirsch, 1991
Holotype: Kirsch, 1991, pl.17, figs.1,3
Locus typicus: Schellenbach, Bavaria, Germany
Stratum typicum: Late Maastrichtian
Translation Kirsch, 1991: LPP
Original diagnosis: Kirsch, 1991, p.94-95
Two-layered, marginate cyst with subsphaeroidal to sphaeroidal, smooth to finely granulate central body, equatorial cross-section lenticular to subcircular. Lateral with two extended sack-like, smooth appendages, both layers usually closely appressed, or incompletely developed. Cyst and appendages covered with short, capitate or distally blunted processes. Archaeopyle apical (4A); operculum secate.
Original description: Kirsch, 1991, p.95
Equatorial cross-section asymmetrical with an oval to subsphaeroidal central body and two lateral appendages. Surface of central-body smooth, sometimes finely granulate. Periphragm with appendages smooth. Processes solid, short, slender, capitate or distally blunted. Next to these, pairs of processes, which are connected at the bases are developed on the cyst surface and appendages. No processes are developed on the ventral side. Cingulum indicated by alignment of processes on the dorsal side. Sack-like appendages run nearly circumlateral from archaeopyle to antapex. Proximal part of appendages may by incompletely developed and connected to the central body by solid processes. Perforations are possible. Free end of membrane always concave, amplate.
Archaeopyle apical ([tA]); operculum secate.
