Ellipsodinium sp. a of jiang et al., 1992
Ellipsodinium sp.A Jiang et al. 1992
Reference: Jiang et al., 1992, pl.1, fig.4
Age: Kimmeridge, Jurassic
Occurence: Mto Panga Quarry, Kenya
Original description: Jiang et al., 1992, p. 82-83
Proximate cyst, subsphaerical to ellipsoidal in shape. Autophragma only (ca. 1µ thick) ornamented with a very low, fairly regular reticulum with a fine mesh. The luminae on average are 3-4 µm wide and the muri less than 1µm high. The floors of the luminae are smooth. Paratabulation is shown by faint parasutural ridges vaguely indicated by rough alignment of muri, by the archaeopyle margin and by a distinct cingulum, about 7-8 µm wide and delimited by distinct ridges bounding a more or less smooth band. Archaeopyle apical (type tA) bounded by a slightly zig-zag margin with a conspicuous sulcal notch. The operculum is free; complete specimens are few.
Dimensions: Length: 50-82 µm, holotype 72 µm; breadth: 44-74 µm.
