Endoceratium pflugii
Endoceratium pflugii Prössl, 1990, p.98, pl.3, figs.7-8 ex Prössl, 1992b, p.113-114.
This name was not validly published in Prössl (1990, p.98), since that author did not specify the lodgment of the holotype.
Holotype: Prössl, 1990, pl.3, fig.8
Paratype: Prössl, 1990
Locus typicus: Salzgitter, NW-Germany
Stratum typicum: Late Hauterivian
Translation Prössl, 1990: LPP
Original diagnosis: Prössl, 1990, p. 98
Cyst outline polygonal with each one apical-, antapical- and two postcingular horns. The endophragm is smooth while the periphragm is especially next to the sutures weakly corrugate. The from the periphragm seperated inner body reaches into the horns and seems to be fused with these at the distal ends.
Original descripition: Prössl, 1990, p.98
The cavate cyst consists of of an archaeopyle type tA. Although the periphragm is very thin and strongly folded the following tabulation is indicated: 4", 6"", Xc, 6""", 1p, 1"""". In the region of the achaeopyle suture the cysts often show an angle resulting in a "shoulder" and therefore in a pentagonal outline. It is remarkable that the endocyst reaches into the last quarter of the horns. Possibly the horns are from here on hollow.
Affinities:
Prössl, 1990, p.98: E. pflugii differs from all other Endoceratium species by the endocyst reaching the into the last quarter of the horns and the thin walls of endo- and pericyst. Further the horns are longer and thinner than on other species.
