Montanarocysta aemiliana

Montanarocysta aemiliana Corradini, 1973; Emendation: Slimani, 2004, p.177,179–180.

Holotype: Corradini, 1973, pl.30, fig.3a-b
Paratype: Corradini, 1973
Locus typicus: Viano, Reggio Emilia, Italy
Stratum typicum: Late Cretaceous-Paleocene

Original diagnosis: Corradini, 1973, p. 183-184
Test smooth with more or less hexagonal flattened central body surrounded by a wide, flat membrane with typically irregular margin. Fibres and branched or tubular processes arise from the central body.
Cingulum sometimes suggested by alignment of crests and tubiform processes.
Archeopyle precingular.
Dimensions--Holotype: length of the central body 42 Ám, width 60 Ám, overall test 80 x 105 Ám. Range: diameter of the central body 40-(45)-52 x 48-(55)-60 Ám, overall diameter 80-(86)-100 x 90-(98)-110 Ám.

Original description: Corradini, 1973, p. 184
From the corners of the central body arise, radially, thickenings of the membrane supportine the membrane it. The wide wing lamella is strongly irregular in outline being alternatively straight and concave. Slender processes normally branched and tubiform, distally flared, arise from the surface of the central bodv. The processes closer to the outer wing are normally united proximally with the membrane itself. Also the processes outlining the cingular zone are united at the bottom by well developed crests. A wide crest as high as the outer membrane arises from the apical side of the central body.
The position of the processes on the central body is not defined except for the four gonal tubiform processes starting from the corners of the trapezoidal archeopyle.
In the middle of the hypotract, normally narrower than the epitract, there are often present, on the dorsal surface, two tubular processes, frequently distally overlapping.
The wide precingular archeopyle is rarely present.
