Alisogymnium assamicum
From Fensome et al., 2019:
Alisogymnium assamicum, (Jain et al., 1975, p.4, pl.2, figs.28–29) Lentin and Vozzhennikova, 1990, p.28.
Holotype: Jain et al., 1975, pl.2, fig.28; Lentin and Vozzhennikova, 1990, Appendix A, fig.37.
Originally Dinogymnium, subsequently (and now) Alisogymnium.
Taxonomic senior synonym: Gymnodinium (now Dinogymnium) sphaerocephalum, according to Jain (1977a, p.133–134) — however, Lentin and Vozzhennikova (1990, p.28) retained Alisogymnium assamicum.
Age: Maastrichtian.
Locus typicus: Assam, India
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Original description: [Jain, Sah and Singh, 1975, p. 4]:
Diagnosis:
Shell oblong, poles broadly rounded, sides convex, epitheca slightly longer than hypotheca. Cingulum broad, deep, circular. Hypotheca bowl shaped without longitudinal ribs. Epitheca conical, longitudinal ribs few, distantly placed, broad, with straight to undulating margin; surface granulate.
Archaeopyle apical.
Dimensions: Holotype Range
Length of shell 60 µm 50-60 µm
Width of shell 50 µm 45-50 µm
Width of cingulum 11 µm 8-11 µm
Cingulum index 50 50-57
