Achomosphaera mariannae ssp. philippotii
From Williams, Lentin and Fensome 1998 - Lentin and Williams Index of Fossil Dinoflagellates:
"Achomosphaera mariannae subsp. philippotii Marheinecke, 1992, p. 35
Contrary to the opinion of Lentin and Williams (1993, p.7), Williams et al. (1998, p.24) considered this name to be validly published.
Holotype: Marheinecke, 1986, pl.2, fig.4, as Achomosphaera sp.; Marheinecke, 1992, pl.4, fig.10"
Locus typicus: Hemmoor, Lower Saxony, Germany
Stratum typicum: Late Maastrichtian
Age: Early-early Late Maastrichtian
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Original description: [Marheinecke, 1992, p.35] (Translation: LPP):
Description:
Cyst oval to subsphaerical. Wall composed of pedium and luxuria. Luxuria produced into gonal and intergonal processes. Surface of cyst body smooth. Wall very thin and delicate.
Processes: gonal and intergonal, rounded, hollow, distally bi- or trifurcate. Processes 2nd order may reach half the length of 1st order processes. Distal ends of 2nd order processes usually weakly furcate. In the cingular and sulcal region processes may be fused to bi- to multifurcate processes.
Archaeopyle: 3''; operculum 3'', secate.
Dimensions:
Central body length 42(54)68 µm, breadth 38(51)63 µm, length of processes 0.5-0.6 of central body length.
