Pterodinium cingulatum ssp. conterminatus
Pterodinium cingulatum ssp. conterminatus Marheinecke, 1992
Contrary to the opinion of Lentin and Williams (1993, p.551), Williams et al. (1998, p.517) considered this name to be validly published.
Holotype: Marheinecke, 1992, pl.5, figs.10-12
Locus typicus: Hemmoor, Lower Saxony, Germany
Stratum typicum: Early Maastrichtian
Translation Marheinecke, 1992: LPP
Original description: Marheinecke, 1992, p.39
Cyst subsphaeroidal. Wall composed of pedium and luxuria. Luxuria produced into finate septae.
Surface ornamentation: chagrinate.
Septae: muri claudate to apertate, conflate. Cannae not developed. Free of ornamentation. Septae smooth to serrate.
Processes: rudimentary, gonal processes 1st order. Usually indicated by rising higth of septae at triple points. Processes hollow, distally open. Apical septae fused to a distinctive apical process.
Apical region: usually three apical areae reflected, 2" and 3" completely developed, 1" and 4" fused to one iso-camerate area. Distinctive apical horn and apical septae developed.
Cingulum: sinistral, ends displaced in one cingulum width.
Sulcal region: sulcus not differentiated (ps visible). Usually straight and wide. Area 6"" nearly triangular, septae towards the sulcus may be missing. Area 1""" fused with sulcus or indicated by second septum in border zone sulcus/2""".
Areation: 3-4", 6"", 6c, 5-6""", 1p, 1"""", Xs.
Archaeopyle: 3""; operculum 3"", secate.
Dimensions: range - central body length 44,48,50; breadth 33,35,38 (3 specimens measured)
