Spiniferites ramosus ssp. septoperforatus
Spiniferites ramosus ssp. septoperforatus Marheinecke, 1992
Contrary to the opinion of Lentin and Williams (1993, p.616), Williams et al. (1998, p.579) considered this name to be validly published.
Holotype: Marheinecke, 1992, pl.3, figs.6-7
Locus typicus: Hemmoor, Lower Saxony, Germany
Stratum typicum: Early Maastrichtian
Translation Marheinecke, 1992: LPP
Original description: Marheinecke, 1992, p.26
Cyst subsphaeroidal, spiniferate. Wall composed of pedium and luxuria. Luxuria produced into finate septae, ginal and intergonal processes.
Surface ornamentation: chagrenate.
Septae: muri low or missing, claudate, conflate. Weak to maderate cannae usually present. Muri with openings of various size. Free of ornamentation. If no cannae present, septae smooth to serrate.
Processes: Gonal processes trifurcate, intergonal processes bifurkate. Processes 2nd order may be longer than processes 1st order. Distal ends of 2nd order processes bifurcate. Processes developed by the connection of three septae may be hollow and open at the triple point. Close standing processes may be fused to bi- or multifurcate processes.
Apical region: septae may reflect just three arae, 2" and 3" normaly developed, 1" and 4" fused to a ¦ trigonal or iso-omega-form planate to camerate area. If all septae developed, a gonal process arises from the triple-point.
Cingulum: sinistral, displaced more than one cingulum width.
Sulcal area: sulcus not differentiated. Straight to weakly S-shaped. Area 6"" triangular, septum towards sulcus is missing. Area 1"""" usually fused with the sulcus.
Areation: 3-4", 6"", 6c, 5-6""", 1p, 1"""", Xs.
Archaeopyle: 3""; operculum 3"", secate.
Dimensions: Length of central body 30(32)33 µm, breadth central body 28(30)31 µm.
Affinities:
Marheinecke, 1992, p.26: S. ramosus ssp. septoperforatus differs from S. ramosus gracilis in having perforate muri.
