Contrary to the opinion of Lentin and Williams (1993, p.612), Williams et al. (1998, p.576) considered this name to be validly published.

Cyst habit subsphaeroidal, spiniferate. Wall composed of pedium and luxuria. The luxuria forms finate septae and gonal processes. Intergonal processes are not developed. Septae: muri high, claudate, conflate, sometimes at the base hiate. Cannae are not developed. Ornamentation: Striate to wrinkled. Septae with smooth or serrate margins. On rudimentary septae in the sulcal region, the surface ornamentation of the central body may be developed on the septae. Processes: gonal, distally trifurcate; second order processes very short and developed as membrane. Distal ends of second order processes bifurcate.
