Cladopyxidium reticulatum
Cladopyxidium reticulatum, (Deflandre, 1937); emend. Marheinecke, 1992
Now Palaeostomocystis. Originally (and now) Palaeostomocystis, subsequently Cladopyxidium.
The transfer of this species - the type species of Palaeostomocystis Deflandre, 1937 - to Cladopyxidium in effect makes Palaeostomocystis a tax. sr. synonym of Cladopyxidium; this means that all species presently included in Cladopyxidium be transferred to Palaeostomocystis. Since Marheinecke, 1992, did not state whether he has seen the holotype of Palaeostomocystis reticulata and since Cladopyxidium is such a morphologically distinct genus, we consider it advisable at this time to retain Cladopyxidium as a separate genus.
Holotype: Deflandre, 1937, pl.12 [al. pl.9], fig.4
Age: Late Cretaceous
