Danea crassimurata
From Fensome et al., 2019:
Danea crassimurata Wilson, 1988, p.17, pl.5, figs.1a–b,2,3a–b,4. Holotype: Wilson, 1988, pl.5, figs.1a–b; Fensome et al., 1996, figs.1–2 — p.2097. Originally (and now) Danea, subsequently Damassadinium (generic name illegitimate).
Age: Early-Middle Eocene.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Original description: Wilson, 1988, p. 17
Intermediate to large slightly ellipsoidal Danea with a characteristic thick autophragm (up to m). Short conical projection present at both apex and antapex. Penitabular septa reticulate to fibrous, low (rarely exceeding 5 Ám) and define typical gonyaulacacean paratabulation 4', 6'', 6c, 5''', 1p, 1''''; paraplates difficult to discern on ventral surface and there appears to be a variable number of sulcal paraplates. Hypocyst typically larger than epicyst. Archeopyle large, somewhat hoof-shaped; operculum free. Paracingulum broad (up to 14 µm) indicated by irregular series of short transverse septa. Parasulcus indicated by variable number of short rectilinear septa.
Dimensions: Holotype: length 105 µm, breadth 84 µm. Range: length 75-105 µm, breadth 63-84 µm (n= 10).
Affinties:
Wilson, 1988, p. 17: The species is distinguished from other members of Danea mainly by its characteristic thick wall.
