Original description: Wilson 1988, p. 21-22: Hystrichokolpoma bullatum
Cyst of intermediate size, bilayered, with moderately thick smooth endophragm and periphragm; both layers in close contact except at base of intratabular processes. Precingular and postcingular processes fairly short (length 12-14,µm) somewhat hemispherical, with broad subpolygonal or rounded bases (breadth 16-30 µm), smooth, or occasionally bearing rare short spinules. Antapical process distinctive, hollow, relatively long (up to 22 µm) distally narrower with blunt tip. Paracingular processes simple or bifurcate, narrow, hollow, pointed, apparently two per paraplate. Parasulcal processes small, pointed, with polygonal bases. Archeopyle with subrounded margin; operculum free, with one relatively large rounded process. Paracingulum indicated by about 12 simple or bifurcate processes; interrupted by parasulcus on ventral surface.

Dimensions: Holotype: overall diameter 57 µm, diameter of endocyst 46 µm. Range: overall diameter 57(60)68 µm, diameter of endocyst 41(46)51 µm (n=6).

Distribution: Recorded only from the Mangaorapan and Heretaungan Stages, Lower Eocene; fairly rare.

Remarks: Wilson 1988, p. 21-22
The species differs from H. spinosum Wilson (this bulletin), with which it is associated at the type locality, in having much more bulbous and smoother, large processes, in lacking abundant spines, and in having a longer, more distinctive antapical process.
