Pyxidinopsis delicata
Pyxidinopsis delicata Wilson, 1988
Holotype: Wilson, 1988, pl.17, fig.7a-b
Locus typicus: Waipa Section, Hawkes Bay, New Zealand
Stratum typicum: Heretaungan-Porangan, Early-middle Eocene
Original description: Wilson, 1988, p. 28
Cyst subspherical, small to intermediate in size, fairly thick-walled (2-4 µm), apparently comprising autophragm only with thin smooth inner layer and slightly thicker reticulate outer layer. Reticulum somewhat irregular with thin delicate, smooth or crenulate muri (height 2-3 µm). Texture of lumina finely reticulate. Archeopyle small, polygonal (usually pentagonal or nearly square); operculum free or attached along posterior margin. Paratabulation indicated by archeopyle only. No trace of paracingulum or parasulcus. Dimensions: Holotype: length 54 µm, breadth 54 µm. Range: overall diameter 51(56)62 µm (n = 10).
Affinities:
Wilson, 1988, p. 28: Pyxidinopsis delicata differs from P. waipawaensis, with which it is associated at the type locality, in having more delicate, thinner muri, coarser
reticulation, and a finely sculptured surface in addition to the primary reticulation.
