Systematophora septata

Systematophora septata Wilson, 1988, p.31

Originally Systematophora, subsequently (and now) Systematophora?. Questionable assignment: Courtinat, Londeix and Pourtoy in Fauconnier and Masure (2004, p.527) as a problematic species.

Holotype: Wilson, 1988, pl.23, figs.2a–c; Fensome et al., 1996, figs.1–3 — p.2353; Fauconnier and Masure, 2004, pl.77, figs.11–12.
Locus typicus: Waipawa Section, Hawkes Bay, New Zealand
Stratum typicum: Waipawan Stage, Early Eocene

Original description: Wilson, 1988, p. 31
Cyst of intermediate size, subspherical sometimes with weakly developed apical and two unequal antapical protrusions. Autophragm finely reticulate with thin, delicate, reticulate or fibrous penitabular septa (height up to 14 µm) with relatively smooth crests and occasional thin penitabular processes; base of septa thickened. Paratabulation apparently gonyaulacacean, probable formula 4", 6"", Xc, 5""", 1p, 1"""", Xs. Paracingulum defined by relatively narrow gap (c. 5 µm) between precingular and postcingular complexes. Archeopyle (Type tA), broad, with typical zig-zag margin and offset sulcal notch; operculum either free or sometimes attached on ventral side. Parasulcus indicated by parasulcal notch at apical end. Dimensions: Holotype: overall length 76 µm, breadth 68 µm, length of central body 62 µm, breadth 62 µm, height of septa up to 8 µm. Range: overall diameter 68(73)81 µm, diameter of central body 51(60)62 µm, height of crests 6-14 µm (n = 10).

Affinities:
Wilson, 1988, p. 31: Systematophora septata is distinguished from Glaphyrocysta delicata, with which it is associated at the type locality, mainly in having lower and smoother penitabular septa, and in lacking a trabeculate ectophragm.
