Muderongia longicorna Monteil, 1991; emend Monteil 1996

Taxonomic senior synonym: Muderongia simplex, according to Poulsen (1992a, p.57) — however, Monteil (1996, p.42) retained Muderongia longicorna.
Taxonomic junior synonym: Muderongia brevispinosa, according to Monteil (1996, p.42).

Holotype: Monteil, 1991, pl.1, fig.1
Paratype: Monteil, 1991
Locus typicus: Berrias, Ardeche, SE France
Stratum typicum: Early Berriasian

Original diagnosis: Monteil, 1991, p. 473
Cysts proximate to proximochorate, compressed dorsoventrally, two-layered, cornucavate to delphicavate or circumcavate. Pericyst ceratioid, asymmetrical, with 5 prominent horns: 1 apical (axial, type AP l); 2 subequal lateral (axial, type L 1), indented; 2 inequal antapical (joined, type ATP ll). Left lateral horn may be slightly more reduced than x the right one. Left antapical horn longer (usually up to three times) than the right one. Left antapical horn may be particularly long and looking like a whip (Pl 2, fig. 3). Horns normal to tapered with distal extremities closed and rounded to pointed; proximal extremities narrow to wide. Endocyst oval to rhombic, often with eccentric antapex extending in the left antapical horn. Periphragm thin, psilate to scabrate; periphragm may be ornamented by processes (stages I to IV). Endophragm thin, psilate to granulate. Archeopyle apical, type (4A), with angular margin. Parasulcal notch marked. Operculum free. Paratabulation indicated by archeopyle, by low parasutural ridges or septa, and more or less clearly expressed by distribution and type of processes (stages I to IV), when those are present. Formula:?pr, 4", 0a, 6", 6c, 6""", 1p, 1"""". Pericingulum marked by indentation of lateral horns and by parallel transverse structures. Perisulcus marked by parasulcal notch offset. Perisulcal area not observed. Dimensions of the holotype (without operculum): 72,5 Ám x 65 Ám (overall L x I).
Dimensions of the paratype (without operculum): 70 Ám x 75 Ám (overall L x I).

Affinities:
Monteil, 1991, p. 473: Muderongia longicorna differs from M simplex emend. in having an oval to rhombic endocyst, often with eccentric antapex extending in the left antapical horn, rather than a cruciform pentangular endocyst, stretching out to the middle part of the five horns.
