Valensiella reticulata
Valensiella reticulata (Davey, 1969) Courtinat, 1989
NOW Cassiculosphaeridia. Originally (and now) Cassiculosphaeridia, subsequently Valensiella.
Slimani (1994, p.98) retained this species in Cassiculosphaeridia.
Holotype: Davey, 1969, pl.4, fig.3
Locus typicus: Escalles, France
Stratum typicum: Cenomanian
Original diagnosis: Davey, 1969, p.142: Cassiculosphaeridia reticulata
Shell spherical to subspherical. Shell surface bearing low ridges, forming a coarse reticulation, from which arise fine membranous crests. Shell wall lightly to densely granular.
Original description: Davey, 1969, p.142: Cassiculosphaeridia reticulata
The areas delimited by the low ridges are typically subpolygonal but may be of irregular shape. They vary considerably in size, from 2 to 10 µm in diameter. The membranous crests are very fine and tend to be flexuous since supporting structures are absent.
