Achomosphaera ramosissima
From Fensome et al., 2019:
Achomosphaera ramosissima, He Chengquan, 1991, p.149, pl.23, figs.10–11.
Holotype: He Chengquan, 1991, pl.23, fig.10.
Age: Paleocene.
Location and stratigraphy: Wuqis County Basebulak; Qimugen Fm, the lower member.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Original description: [He Chengquan, 1991] (translated by Suning Hou, 07-01-2019):
Description:
Oval body. Wall thickness about 1μm, smooth surface. With many slender processes (16-18 processes around, brittle, easily broken), hollow or occasionally solid, base not widened or individually slightly widen; There are 3 long branches distally, individually 2 branches, in some specimens there are 4 branches; The branches are generally 7.5 to 13μm, its ends are bifurcated or simple; They are likely to be at the gonal positions , separated from each other, No significant link between the base of the processes.
Archeopyle exists, precingular, P-type. Operculum off.
Dimensions:
Body length 46-52μm, width 40-50μm, process length 20-32μm, width 1-2μm (measured 2);
Holotype length 46μm, width 40μm, Process length up to 32μm, bifurcates length 10-13μm.
Affinities/Comparison:
The new species is similar to Achomosphaera linifera from late Paleocene in Australia, but the former body is smaller, processes are trifurcated distally while the bases of the adjacent processes are connected by linear ridge in the latter.
