Areoligera fimbriata
Areoligera fimbriata, He Chengquan, 1991
Holotype: He Chengquan, 1991, pl.28, fig.10
Location and stratigraphy: Wuqian County Basebulak; Qimugen fm lower member.
Age: Paleocene-Middle Eocene
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Original description: [He Chengquan, 1991]: (translated by Suning Hou, 07-01-2019):
Description:
Oval body. Wall thickness about 1μm, divided into 2 nearly equal layers, the inner wall is smooth, the outer wall surface fine granular. With several process clusters(assemblage) (at least seven on the holotype) whose bases are marked by substantially thickened annular ridges, the ridge is completely or semi-closed; Cluster diameter 11-25μm, its shape and structure are complex, distally fuse (sash) like; There are several processes on each cluster ridge, shapes of processes various, some cristata (cockscomb)-shaped, some fibrous band or strips, straight or slightly curved, under scanning electron microscope the distal extremities of the processes may be bifurcate, or thorn, or simply; Within the assemblage, the adjacent processes may be separated or joined along their length by trabeculae or connected to varying degrees separated. The process assemblage is intratabular, each representing a plate, the tabulation is generally the same as the genus. Cingulum processes are few or lacking.
Archeopyle apical. Operculum off or in situ preserved.
Dimensions:
Body 58.7-60 μm × 50-50.7 μm, process length 11-22 μm (measured 2); Holotype 60 × 50 μm, process length 15-22 μm.
