Diagnosis:
Autocyst biconical to subquadrata in ambitus. Girdle projections 2-3. Autophragm 1 µm thick, covered with nontabular granulatebaculate ornamentation; baculae pointed or slightly expanded distally, less than 1 µm across and 1.5-2.5 µm long.
Archeopyle, when discernible, combination of [tAa]+3Ia type. Operculum compound.
According to the cyst morphology this species can be subdivided into three forms: fusiforma, quadrata and spinosa.
