Carpatella circularis
Carpatella circularis, (He Chengquan, 1991), Lentin and Williams, 1993
Holotype: He Chengquan, 1991, pl.8, fig.13
Location and stratigraphy: Wuchai County Basebulak;Qimugen fm, lower member.
Age: Paleocene
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Original description: [He Chengquan, 1991]: (translated by Suning Hou, 07-01-2019):
Description:
Cyst dorsal-ventral flattened, the outline nearly round.
Apical and antapical horns degenerated, only slightly visible, but the apical horn is slightly more developed, the cyst wall at the apex is slightly thickened.
There is no sulcus or cingulum, but below the archeopyle (equatorial position) there is an horizontal wrinkle. No tabulation (except for the archeopyle) or inner body.
Cyst wall thickness about 1 μm, two layers close to each other, the surface granular-rough.
Archeopyle obvious, the outline rectangle (size 20μm × 30μm), precingular, P-type, formed by the movement of the third precingular plate. Operculum preserved in situ.
Dimensions:
Cyst length 67.5 μm, width 65 μm.
Affinities:
This species differs from Paraireiana scabrata in the degenerated apical antapical horns.
