Cordosphaeridium inodes ssp. ovale
Cordosphaeridium inodes ssp. ovale He Chengquan, 1991
Holotype: He Chengquan, 1991, pl.17, fig.2
Age: Middle Eocene
Description from He Chengquan, 1991, translated by Suning Hou, 07-01-2019
Description: Body oval or broad ellipse, length larger than width. Wall thickness 1.5-3μm or unknown, inner wall smooth, outer wall surface fibrous particles - fine reticular. Process formed by the outer wall, tubular, long, obviously fibrous, usually distally trumpet like or fibrous diffuse, the end of the edge is not complete or with small teeth; Process width varies, central width up to 10.m, sometimes there are some fine processes, solid, the end expanded; Processes crisp, often broken, but at least 20 can be seen. Archeopyle precingular, P-type. Operculum preserved in situ, with a process on it. The body length 75-92μm, width 60-90μm, process length 20-37μm (measured 6); Holotype body length 92μm, width 90μm, the processn length 22-37μm.
Discussion: The archeopyle of the subspecies is quite wide, its diameter close to the width of the body; The archeopyle seems to be apical, but based on the holotype, it is still precingular. This type of specimen differs from the holotype of the species in a larger body, the processes not wide, distally fibrous diffuse and no split or bifurcation and other characteristics.
Location and stratigraphy: Wuqia County Basebulak; Wulagen group.
