Deflandrea amabilis

Deflandrea amabilis He Chengquan, 1991

Holotype: He Chengquan, 1991, pl.30, fig.5
Age: Middle-Late Eocene

Description from He Chengquan, 1991, translated by Suning Hou, 07-01-2019
Description: cyst dorsal-ventral flat, outline pentagonal, length larger than width, epicyst and hypocust are near equal. Upper cyst bell-shaped, side convex-concave, with a distinct apical horn, conical or cylindrical, length 12-23μm, apical horn base with a strong contraction, distally blunt or slightly pointed. Hypocyst nearly trapezoidal, side concave or nearly straight. Antapical side is strongly concave near right-angle or obtuse angle arc with two nearly equal large antapical horns, length 10-27.5μm, basally widte, the distally blunt, quite far from each other (35-45μ.m). The waist is more or less outwardly convex, lateral convex is usually visible. The cingulum is located on the equator, concave, 6-7.5μm wide, and its edge is marked by ridges. Sulcus is usually clear, limited to the hypocyst, and on some specimens the sulcus developped well, sides are parallel, wide (17.5μm). The outer wall is thin, the surface is smooth/granular or very smooth. The inner body is round or oval, with dense fine particles; It fills the body cavity almost completely except for the horns. Archeopyle intercalary, outline horizontally oval, width greater than length. Operculum fell off or preserved in situ. The cyst length 80-107μm, width 72. 5-82 5μm, inner body length 48-70μm, width 67. 5-75μm (measured 6 specimens); Holotype length 87.5μm, width 82.5μm, inner body length 55μm, width 75μm, apical horn length 12μm, antapical horn length 20μm, cingulumwidth of 7.5μ m.
Comparison: This species is similar to Deflandrea sibirica (Vozzhennikova, 1963) in the shape and size , but the antapical side of the former is not straight, concave near right-angle or obtuse angle, the two antapical horns always touch each other at the base. The latter’s apical horn is usually quite long, antapex side Straight (parallel to the cingulum), the bases of the two antapical horns separated far apart from each other, never contact; It differs from D.sibirica subsp. Obesa in the pentagonal body, the cingulum and the base of the two antapical horns contact, etc.
Location and stratigraphy: Wucha County Basebulak; Wulagen group and Basebulak group member two and three.
