Deflandrea bella
Deflandrea bella He Chengquan, 1991
Holotype: He Chengquan, 1991, pl.30, fig.8, text-fig.9
Age: Middle Eocene
Description from He Chengquan, 1991, translated by Suning Hou, 07-01-2019
Description: cyst dorsal-ventral flattened, with an outline elongted peridinioid or pentagonal, divided into two different parts by the cingulum. The upper cyst is large, acute triangular, with dorsal margins, with a distinct apex, conical , Length 15μm. The top is sharp; The hypocyst is inverted trapezoid, sides are micro-concave, the antapex side is nearly straight, with two nearly equal antapical horns, triangular conical, extend backwards parallel to each other, length 18μm. Waist smooth, without lateral convex. The cingulum is significant, shallow flat, annular, width 10μm, the edge is marked by 2 - 3 lamellar ridges. The sulcus is clear, limited to the lower cyst. Outer wall surface is smooth, locally with a few particles, at in the distal part of horns (especially the antapical) it is granular- piercing; There is a layered structure from theapical horn along hthe cyst edge to the antapical horns and sulcus , consists of 4 -5 clear continuous fine ridge composition. The inner body is oval, the surface is faint granular; it contacts or slightly separats from the outer wallexcept at the norns. Archeopyle is intercalary, the outline is circular hexagon, the length is less than the width. The operculum is completely separated and preserved in situ. Cyst length 91μm, width 52. 5μm. Inner body length 60μ.m, width 50μ.m.
Comparison: this species differes from Deflandrea striata with the shorter apical horn, two parallel antapical horns without diverging, and the laminar structure limited to the edge of the cyst.
Location and stratigraphy: Wucha County Basebulak; Wulagen group.
